DESCRIPTION
- The lines are a nod to the English launch boats that facilitate the floating High Tea on the River Thames. But the Henley28 is not too “narrow”. And certainly not too wide. The rowing regatta between Oxford and Cambridge takes place annually in Henley. Graceful, fast and dynamic. Exactly the characteristics that the Henley28 prides itself on.
- But similar hull shapes were also built in America. Mostly as a steam launch. They had to glide easily even with little power.
- In the side view it is clear that there is flexibility and elegance in the hull. “Length runs” is an old water wisdom. A boat by definition does not want to go faster than 4 times the square root of its waterline length. So a long waterline gives speed. And without a long waterline no speed, that is logical.
- A spacious cockpit and a long foredeck also means that there is space under that foredeck. How nice is it to find an electric toilet there. The Henley28 has such a range that you can stay on the water for hours without the batteries going down. Then a toilet is not an unnecessary luxury. The boat already was.

- And in professional design, ergonomics also play a role. The boat must glide nicely through the water, lie stable in the water, be solidly constructed and look good. But if you can’t sit comfortably in it, it all comes to a bit of a standstill. Martin de Jager and his team ensure that you also have decent space on the toilet.
